William “Bill” Reed is the Director for Veterans Services at the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg where he leads a team of professionals dedicated to expanding the reach and effectiveness of programs that serve “homeless” and “at risk” Veterans in South Central Pennsylvania, through provision of integrated and mutually supporting care that includes: Outreach, Permanent Supportive Housing, Rapid Re-housing, Transitional Housing, Employment Services, Case Management, and other critical needs including the Regions Homeless Veterans Stand Down. Today the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg is recognized as a leader in the development, implementation, and provision of programs that meet Veteran’s needs and are focused on the goal to eliminate homelessness among Veterans.

​As a 26 Year Veteran of the United States Navy, Bill served in numerous roles to include seven major and numerous minor deployments in support of multiple contingency and expeditionary operations including Operation Urgent Fury and Operation Desert Storm. He retired as a Master Chief Photographers’ Mate (Service Warfare/Air Warfare), in 2006 from the Defense Information School, Fort Meade, Maryland where he served as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Commandant. Bill holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of Maryland, University College and a Master of Science Degree in Leadership and Business Ethics from Duquesne University. Bill currently resides in New Bloomfield, PA with his wife, Amy.

He has served as a consultant, contributor, and educator in support of programs and initiatives focused on meeting the needs of Veterans. As a member of the Veterans Outreach of Pennsylvania Team, Bill will contribute to the development and implementation of best practices and services that meet the needs of our brothers and sisters who served.
